The associated lifetime costs for spinal cord patients are astronomical, between private rehabilitation, equipment, supplies and other medical expenses. By one estimate, the average yearly expense for a quadriplegic is over $138,928.

To help with these and other uninsured injury-related expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with the Catastrophic Injury Program of NTAF. NTAF is a nonprofit that has been serving the transplant community for more than 27 years. In 2000 they expanded their mission to patients with spinal cord injuries such a Chaz. All contributions are tax-deductible and are administered by NTAF for injury-related expenses only.
